On October 28, 2021 Kevin Avery of GEDA and Tom Veret of the West Bank Optimist Club put a smile on over 100 pre-K students from Lafitte whose families suffered terrific loss from hurricane Ida.
Their Optimist club partnership included the following community organizations and leaders; Kiwanis, Optimist, Lions, Rotary, GEDA, two Jeff Parish School Board members, the Jeff Parish School Board Superintendent and his Assistant, A Jeff Parish Councilman and two of his staff, a chief administrator of another Parish Councilman, and Cornerstone, a major corporate sponsor.
Kevin Avery was the MC and Tom Veret the motivational organizer. Kevin was presented an album of his team’s two months of cooking and serving the Lafitte residents with over 1000 meals a day.
